Our five key responsibilities

We take responsibility for every aspect of our business and continually look for new and innovative ways to reduce our footprint.

Under our 'Lifestyle' banner, we see our responsibilities in five key areas:

Wellness and nutrition

We recognise we are responsible to educate and inform people about the nutritional attributes of the food we provide. We offer healthy options across our food ranges through Balanced Choices, our health and nutrition programme developed in line with FSA guidelines.

Responsible sourcing

We place great importance on the provenance of the food we use. Wherever possible, we source products locally or regionally, purchase from organic producers, and employ ethical and Fairtrade initiatives. Our products meet farm assurance standards and are supported by accreditations such as the Red Tractor Mark.

The environment

We continuously look to reduce our impact on the environment. This includes preventing pollution, managing waste and conserving energy. Our extensive recycling and reuse programme covers cooking oil, coffee grounds, photocopying paper and toner cartridges. We use biodegradable and compostable disposables and work with our suppliers to optimise vehicle efficiency.

In the community

In conjunction with the Compass Group, we are currently involved in a number of community projects across the UK. Our work with our ethical suppliers to support One Water funds water pumps across Africa. We contribute to the Costa Foundation programme through our association with Costa Coffee. And, in addition to our two-year partnership with Cancer Research UK, we also contribute to a large number of UK charities via the Payroll Giving scheme.

Our team

We focus on looking after our employees' health and safety and promoting diversity in our workforce. In addition, we offer our employees the best training and development opportunities available in our industry today.
